Continuing Professional Development
At the 2006 Annual General Meeting, members voted on the proposed changes to mandatory continuing professional development (CPD).
Effective January 1, 2007, under the mandatory Continuing Professional Education (CPD) requirements, members are required to:
- complete a minimum of 120 hours of CPD over a three-year cycle, including at least 60 hours of verifiable study;
- complete at least 20 hours of study annually of which 10 hours are to be verifiable;
- choose learning opportunities that provide for the development of new or existing competencies that are relevant to each individual member’s overall professional responsibilities and growth.
- The change came into effect on January 1, 2007; which means the first three year cycle is from January 1, 2007 - December 31, 2009.
You are able to complete your CPD requirements in many different ways; not just through the ICAS PD program. PD offered by the Institute is one option – but not the only option available to members. You can model your professional development activities to what works best for you.
What ever you choose or where ever you choose to obtain your CPD, your professional development must be relevant and appropriate to your work and professional responsibilities.
